During a beautiful day in the middle of January where the temperatures hit record highs on Long Island of 68 degrees, I left one spot on the south shore of Long Island and headed over to another location, Long Beach. Hoping to capture some great scenic wave action as with a storm the night before and even with the temperature in the 60's the winds were very strong. When I got to Long Beach I was not disappointed as the waves were easily 10 feet high and crashing down on the surf and at times being pushed in various directions due to the strong winds. I tried to get as many action shots as seen in this photo of the waves rolling up on each other, curling and crashing down while another set of waves is climbing up on their backs. The tide was coming in quickly so everytime I began to get comfortable I had to move back as the force of the ocean was making its way up onto the beach.
