On a cold winter day in February 2013 I was in Montauk for a weekend and decided to go to the Montauk Lighthouse and see if I could capture some great views overlooking the water from the surrounding area around the Montauk Lighthouse. As I was making my way up the path towards the entrance to the Montauk Lighhouse I looked to my right and saw this gorgeous site on this freezing and very cold day. I immediately took my camera out and focused in on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean looking very peaceful even though on the other side of the Montauk Lighthouse the ocean was being blown very hard and white caps were three to four feet in the ocean. But in this view the site was peaceful and the water was calmly coming into the eroded beach from last year's Hurricane Sandi and the Noreaster that followed Hurricane Sandi. As I got into the right position I wanted to make sure I captured the bluff/cliff that overlooks the beach and goes from one side of the Montauk Lightouse to the front of it to the other side, protecting the Lighthouse from tumbling into the ocean. As an added treat on this beautiful winter day I had a beautiful blue clear sky with a great reflection of the sun hitting the ocean at midday. After taken the shot the ocean and sky seem to be one at the horizon.
