FAA WATERCOLOR MARK DOES NOT APPEAR ON FINAL SALES
While in San Francisco, California on business I headed down to Fisherman's Wharf to see if I could find anything interesting to photograph. As I was making my was down to the floating docks in Pier 39 with all of the large sealions I came upon this Albatross who at first glance I though was just a very large seagull, as that is what I usually see in New York by the water. As I walked closer and closer to the bird, he never moved or backed away he stayed firmly planted which kind of caught me off guard. As I got closer to him I noticed the size of his web feet and the way his eye were both looking at me and that unusual looking almost metal looking beak. I quickly got my camera out and took this photo before the bird would move. To my surprise even after I photographed him he stayed perfectly still not fazed at all by my presence. When I got home to NY I showed some friends who are bird experts my photo and they told me that was not anywhere near a seagull in fact it was a very large Albatross that could have taken my eye out with that sharp beak.
