FAA WATERCOLOR MARK DOES NOT APPEAR ON FINAL SALES
While attending a photo shoot that attracted everything from models, colorful detailed shapes of glass along with an assortment of birds ranging from cockatoos to exotic birds and parakeets. While walking down the row that contained the various birds I came across this remarkable colorful small bird, who was standing on a tiny branch supporting himself after asking around I was told it was a Sun Conure from South America who was an endangered species because of not being able to reproduce due to the marketing of them as pets. I got as close as I was allowed to get to him and as I did he began to bend over almost looking like he was going to fly away. This exotic colorful bird had various shades of green on his wings, the feathers that were on his wings were layered one row on top of the next. Next he had a very distinguished black beak with no markings on it, just very black. His body was very small and plump and his feathers were very tight together which gave the appearance that his body was very thick in feathers. His eye you could not miss as it was very large and ran from the beginning of the bridge of his nose and back across his head and was circled by a large red thick red feathers circling the eye. For more information on the Sun Conure please feel free to read the information below;
The sun parakeet or sun conure (Aratinga solstitialis) is a medium-sized brightly colored parrot native to northeastern South America. The adult male and female are similar in appearance, with predominantly golden-yellow plumage and orange-flushed underparts and face. It is commonly kept in aviculture. The species is endangered, threatened by loss of habitat and trapping for the pet trade. The term conure readily identifies the bird as one of the species of small to medium-sized parrots with a long tail of the tribe Arini, that are mainly endemic to South America. They reach sexual maturity at around 2 years of age, and can live for 25 to 30 years. The hen lays a clutch of three to five eggs, with an incubation period of 23 days.[9]
The sun conure is noted for its very loud squawking compared to its relatively small size. It is capable of mimicking humans, but not as well as some larger parrots.Sun conures are popular as pets because of their bright coloration though they have a very limited ability to talk. Due to their inquisitive temperaments, they demand a great deal of attention from their owners, and can sometimes be loud. Like many parrots, they are determined chewers and require toys and treats to chew on.Hand reared pets can be very friendly towards humans that they are familiar with, but they may be aggressive towards strangers.
