I chartered a 23 foot Sea Ray for an 8 hour day of fishing with my friend. When we started out around 7:00 am leaving the inlets and putting the throttle down we hit some pretty big swells and 4 to 5 foot waves that were coming from all directions as we were heading 9 miles offshore to begin fishing over the wrecks and reefs. Even though we were in NY waters in the Atlantic Ocean we could feel the remnants of Hurricane Ian as we were trying to get to our destination. By 8:30 am we had made it to our spot and began to fish. The waves continued to toss us around pretty good and my knees were taking a beating on the the side of the boat. But we were still managing to pull in immediately Flukes, Sea Bass, Porgies, Blues, and even some Blackfish which I had to throw back as the season does not open until October 15th. Next by 11:30 am the waves had calmed down and the captain felt it was a good time to take a chance on putting the boat's throttle completely down and cruising over the now calm Atlantic Ocean with a beautiful blue sky overhead and as we ripped through the ocean we were leaving a huge white water wake on each side of the boat. Out next spot was just as good as the first spot as we continued to fish and bring in more and more fish. Great day for fishing and a lot of action from the ocean trying to get to the fishing grounds and from us pulling in all of the fish we caught
