While visiting various parts of New York City in July 2013 my final stop was to go to the Empire State Building's Observatory Deck located on the 86th Floor. I wanted to get there as the sun was still out so I could see New York City in the day light but also to get there as the sun would begin to set. That day I got lucky and the after being on the deck for 45 minutes the sun began to set over New York City. In this photo I was able to capture the view from the east side of the Empire State Building viewing the famous East River and looking right into Queens and Long Island, along with seeing some landmark buildings in New York. This was one of my favorite photos taken from the Empire State Building that day. For more information on the Empire State Building Observatory Deck please feel free to read the information below;
There are two observatories. An open air 360-degree terrace on the 86th floor also contains an indoor viewing gallery for chillier days. Outside, you'll find high powered binoculars and a wheelchair-accessible promenade with the most spectacular views of downtown, midtown, Central Park and beyond.
Sixteen stories up, and almost a quarter mile up in the sky, you can visit the 102nd floor Observatory, the highest public point in New York City. Relax and take in the full 360-degree view in our climate-controlled indoor gallery with comfortable perches.
