FAA WATERCOLOR MARK DOES NOT APPEAR ON FINAL SALES
While coming in from the ocean towards Freeport, New York located on the south shore of Long Island a remarkable red sky came through the night time clouds. I decided to take advantage of this remarkable sky and went out onto the swim platform on the rear of the boat and took some shots as I let the boat drift with the engine off. The sky was a typical summer time sky with the heat just beginning to drop a little. Within minutes of taking this photograph I decided to change course and head down the Nautical Mile which runs parallel to my canal and has numerous seafood restaurants and bands playing outside on each corner. At the time I was on the boat with, my girlfriend her daughter and my friend who had to work had asked me if I would not mind taking his family out also that day and night. So I was having a great time on my boat but I had six woman ranging in age from 8 to 44 and one boy who was 10. Within minutes after taking this photograph and changing course I ran into the worst thunderstorm with lighting that I have ever seen in all my years driving boats. The rain was coming down so hard I had to drop the throttle down so we were going only 5mph and everytime the thunder hit it echoed across the water making it seem like we were having an earthquake on the water. In addition, everytime the lighting hit it brightened up the water and blinded me from seeing anything in front of me. Just as I got back to my slip and was directing the boat in backwards the storm stopped and I signaled to all of the woman who had run below into the cabin it was safe to come up now, just another adventure on the water. But I did get a great shot out of it.
