I chartered a fishing boat that was set to depart from Manhassett Bay located in Manhassett, New York at 6:15am and be close to or pass the breakers leading us out into the Long Island Sound for some striper and blue fishing. If the boat traffic was to much and to noisy are backup plan was to head back into Manhassett Bay at around high tide and wait it out and let the bait fish be chased into the bay area by the pools of stripers and blue fish this way because of the way the bait fish smack the top of the water it would be easier to see where the bigger blue and striper fish where. We had hoped to be out by the Long Island Sound no later then 6:30am. Everything was right on schedule that day and as we were crossing past the breakers my friend tapped me on the shoulder and said, "You should get a shot of that sunrise", I turned and saw this gorgeous sunrise breaking over the horizon of Manhassett Bay and creating a silhouette of the trees and mountains as it rose. In addition, the sun's rays were beautiful as they began to shoot off of the sun creating a star image and with the water a little rough from the night before and our wake it made for the perfect shot. I got down on one knee and captured the water rocking back and forth and that gorgeous sun rising above the horizon. We eventually turned in from the Long Island Sound as there was to many boats and to much noise and fished inside the bay and still caught our fill. Great way to start with a nice photo and a great way to end with a nice bucket full of fish for dinner.
