While I was getting ready to leave Bayville Beach, located in Bayville, New York on the north shore of Long Island. I was packing up some of my camera equipment when I noticed this odd looking seagull who had just landed not to far from me and had dropped something from his mouth. I started to walk closer very quietly as he was picking at whatever he had dropped. I put my zoom lens on my camera, then sat down in a position that I felt I could get the best possible shot. The seagull was very dark looking with both black and white feathers and deep black tail feathers in addition he had dark eye circles and a black beak. The majority of his body was made up of the black feathers. As I began to raise my camera he looked right at me and dropped what he had in his mouth, it was seaweed he must have seen floating and dove down and grabbed it to eat it on this rocky beach with a lot of small rocks and shells with various colors to them. I took my photograph and then looked at it and felt he was a little different looking and the blend of the rocks and shells made for a good background.
