While coming in from the ocean towards Freeport, New York located on the south shore of Long Island a remarkable red sky came through the night time clouds. I decided to take advantage of this remarkable sky and went out onto the swim platform on the rear of the boat and took some shots as I let the boat drift with the engine off. The sky was a typical summer time sky with the heat just beginning to drop a little. Within minutes of taking this photograph I decided to change course and head down the Nautical Mile which runs parallel to my canal and has numerous seafood restaurants and bands playing outside on each corner. At the time I was on the boat with, my girlfriend her daughter and my friend who had to work had asked me if I would not mind taking his family out also that day and night.
