While on a visit to Montauk, New York located on the eastern end of Long Island I went down to the beach right below the Montauk Lighthouse on a very cold, windy winter day in February. As I tried to protect myself and my camera from the swirling sand and the crashing waves on the beach's rocks I found a good position to get several angle shots. In this photograph I was able to capture the waves smashing down with full force on top of the rocks in front of the beach and then having the wind take the spray from the waves and spray it all over the immediate surf. While in the background I could see the Atlantic Ocean getting rougher by the minute as the white caps were gaining speed and height and were coming into shore as the tide was coming in and being assisted by the strong westerly winds was coming in faster then expected with more speed and power.
