While on a fall trip to the town of Sleepy Hollow I decided to take a walk through the infamous Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where I always find something different of unusual. This time I found both in one spot. The final resting place of McKean instead of having a tombstone over the gravesite had an erected chair instead of a tombstone over the coffin. It is said that McKean wanted his visitors to be comfortable when they came to visit him and have a place to sit down and remember him. The chair or tombstone chair is made out of marble with the deceased name across the back and in the back of the Chair Tombstone is a nice soothing river that runs through the cemetery. In addition there is a tall tree right next to the Chair Tombstone so that when it blooms it will shade the visitors. Not exactly what I was expecting but it is always nice to come across something unusual.
