FAA WATERCOLOR MARK DOES NOT APPEAR ON FINAL SALES
While I was at the San Diego Zoo located in San Diego, California I was looking all day for a Peacock with it's beautiful colored feathers opened and walking in full stride. Well by the end of the day I had walked all over and did not see one then just as I was leaving to walk out the main gate this Peacock appeard but it was dragging its tail with it's gorgeous colored feathers on the ground. I followed the Peacock all over the place for about 5 minutes until some little kid jumped in front of the Peacock and scared it and up went that tail and those gorgeous colored spread out beautifully, what a site and good time I had my camera around my neck and got off a couple of shots before he took off again and lowered his tail. Peafowl are three Asiatic species of flying bird in the genus Pavo of the pheasant family, Phasianidae, best known for the male's extravagant eye-spotted tail, which it displays as part of courtship. The male is called a peacock, the female a peahen, and the offspring peachicks.[1] The adult female peafowl is grey and/or brown. Peachicks can be between yellow and a tawny colour with darker brown patches. The term also embraces the Congo Peafowl, which is placed in a separate genus Afropavo.
The species are:
Indian Peafowl, Pavo cristatus, a resident breeder in South Asia. The peacock is designated as the national bird of India and the provincial bird of Punjab.
Green Peafowl, Pavo muticus. Breeds from Burma east to Java. The IUCN lists the Green Peafowl as endangered due to hunting and a reduction in extent and quality of habitat. Congo Peafowl Afropavo congensis.
