While on vacation in Montauk Point in February in the middle of the winter, I decided to go out early one cold morning as the sun was rising to see about getting a good shot of Gardiner's Bay from a high angle. As I walked around Montauk Manor where I was staying I came upon this mountain side that gave me this perfect view of Gardiner's Bay. In addition, I was able to capture several other great subjects for my photo. As I was getting set up the Long Island Rail Road pulled into it's last stop on the eastern most part of its routes on Long Island and stayed at the train depot waiting to begin its trip west bound towards New York City. I was able to capture this scene right in the foreground of my shot. In addition, I was lucky to have gone out early enough where I caught a beautiful clear sky which allowed me to see the rough waters in Gardiner's Bay with the many white caps rolling along the tops of the waves. In the background I was able to capture a nice clear shot of two sets of mountains which laid on each side of the sandy beach which leads down to the water in Gardiner's Bay, and on top of all of this I was able to capture in the foreground some of the left over snow from a storm that had hit the Montauk area two nights ago and left five inches of snow. I took several shots of this scene trying to capture the best possible angle to see the beautiful roof tops of the homes right on the Bay. This shot turned out to be my favorite and I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoyed taking it and putting it into my gallery.
