After spending nine hours fishing for Black Fish in New Jersey, the boat I chartered with my friends named the Codfather began to head back to the south shore of Long Island. The night before I had called the captain of the Codfather to see if we were still going fishing the following days as the forecast was calling for 5 to 6 foot wave heights, with 35 mph winds and 28 degree weather. Taken into consideration we were going to be using to anchors to stay down I knew we were going to get tossed around. I called the Captain and he assured me even with the conditions I gave him we were still on for the day. We all arrived at the dock at 6:00 am and headed out the sky was beautiful with a great sunrise which I was fortunate enough to get photos of. But then just as we got to our spot and anchored down the winds picked up and the waves began to crash the sides of the boat. We stayed in the same area for six hours and caught 90 Black Fish and everyone was very happy. Going home the weather began to get worse and we were riding right into a bad storm as we came upon the coast of Manhattan. Because of the winds, white caps and wave heights it took us 3 hours to get in just as we were passing the skyline of Manhattan. Great trip with great results but still felt the waves going up and down that night when I went to sleep.
