My family took me out last Saturday to celebrate my birthday on the Nautical Mile, located in Freeport Long Island. Known for its great seafood restaurants, nautical themes, fishing boats both party and charters and cruise ships along with great music there is always something to see and do. After my family and I had dinner we decided to take a walk outside as the sun began to come out and make for a very pleasant day compared to the day before when the temperture near the water was hitting 92 degrees. As we walked down the "Mile" I came upon this statue of 3 bronze dolphins with water shooting out of their mouths and into a small pool. I had never really had an opportunity to photograph this statue as their were always tourists and people sitting around it or the water was not running of the dolphin's mouths. But this time everything was perfect and the background was a perfect blue colored with beautiful swirling white and dark white clouds. Along with a nice clear shot of the canal leading out to the Atlantic Ocean with the waterfront homes on the other side of the canal. This statue was dedicated to the Nautical Mile by "Operation Splash" which goes around making sure the waters on the south shore of Long Island our kept clean and also to clean up after hurricanes like Hurricane Sandy.
