This photograph was taken at the annual Renaissance Fair held in Sands Point, New York on the north shore of Long Island. The property which this Renaissance Fair is held was once owned by the Guggenhime Family and has three castles on the property. Two of which were built after castles in Ireland . During the Renaissance Fair they have everything from knights, maidens, kings and queens and animals of all kinds along with plenty of food. For people who enjoy action there are knights engaging in sword fights and the final show of the day the Royal Joust. For this jousting contest I got right the front of the rope early and stayed there so I would have a good view, I put my zoom lens on and set my camera to shudder speed because I knew the horses would be galloping at a fast pace and I wanted to capture all of the action. In this photograph the two knights in battle have just struck each others jousting poles and you can see the slivers of the poles flying through the air, the action was amazing and I was glad I was able to capture it. I have one other photo of the knights in battle during their jousting contest and that is just seconds before this action took place.
