After a long seven hour day out in the Atlantic Ocean fishing for stripers and blue fish, the charter fishing boat my friends and I had chartered was heading back to the marina. As we began to get closer to the marina and within the no wake zone the boat slowed down and the first mate took out his filleting board and began to first get rid of all of the left over bait that was not going to be used. Suddenly the boat was surrounded with a swarm of seagulls dive bombing into the water to get at the bait that was being thrown overboard. As we came closer to our destination in Oceanside, New York located on the south shore of Long Island the crew I was with posed with our catches and then the first mate went to work filleting each fish. As he did this he would discard the skin of the fish and again we were in the midst of what appeared to be a scene from the old Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds" as the boat again was surrounded by dive bombing seagulls tearing apart the skin as it hit the water. They would all come up and follow the boat from the rear waiting for the next pieces of skin to be thrown into the water. In this photo you can actually see the seagulls looking down at the water waiting to make their next dive. Great opportunity to capture some fun action shots.
