While on a visit to the Bronx Zoo, my favorite zoo to go to not because of its closeness to my home, but because of all the various different animals and the fact that you cannot see every animal in one day at the Bronx Zoo it is impossible. As I had just left the Siberian Tiger another animal I had never had the chance to see so up close, I saw a sign out of the corner of my eye that listed three animals and the an arrow pointing to a path on how to get to them. One of the animals listed was a pelican, and while I have been on the water fishing and seen several I have never had the opportunity to see one up close so I was excited to get my camera out and see what I could capture on my camera. As I got to the site it was built like a swimming hole for wood ducks and right there in front of me this pelican larger then any I had ever seen along with several other ones. This particular pelican was perched on a branch which was half submerged in the water and the other half out of the water. His mouth was half open as he was just finishing off whatever he had just eaten. He had a beautiful looking brown and white long neck that went up to his large head and down that long beak. His body was made up of gray layered feathers and was large as the backside of his body appeared like it was going to dip into the water based on the size of this pelican. I took several shots and the pelican never moved but I was happy at what I had seen and photographed.
