While on vacation recently I went to Wilmington, North Carolina one of my favorite places to visit. When we first arrived at our hotel in Wilmington, North Carolina, my girlfriend and I decided to take a ride around and see some of the sites. The front desk advised us that the beach that was the closest was in Wrightsville. We headed over to see what it looked like. Right away the first thing I noticed was the famous Johnnie Mercer Pier which stretches out into the Atlantic Ocean for about half a mile and has long wood pilings and the pier is made up of concrete and wood with old fashioned lampposts on it so that you can go for a walk at night time. On this particular day there were plenty of fisherman at the end of the pier and a lot of people walking on it and just sitting on the benches. The beach was gorgeous with a great looking greenish blue colored water and a great looking clear light blue sky. You could not ask for a better beach day. The tide was coming in and the waves were beginning to get rough and higher. So as I had started to make my way into the water with my camera I had to quickly make my way out of the water. Overall during my vacation in Wilmington, I spent plenty of time on the Wrightsville Beach and also the famous Johnnie Mercer Pier.
