While coming into Oceanside, New York located on the south shore of Long Island from New Jersey and the Rockaways after a day of striper and black fishing, as the captain slowed the boat down to proceed within the five mph limit and obey the no wake zone limits the first mate got up and began to fillet our catches of stripers and black fish that we had caught for the day. As he began to throw the skin and other parts of the fish over board we were engulfed by a flock of seagulls. The first mate through his hood over his head to prevent any surprises to his hair and he began to toss the heads and tails and skins of the fish as far as he could to the right then to the left to try and get as many of the seagulls away from him and the boat. As you can see in this photograph the seagulls have come back and are basically just hovering over the first mate like vultures waiting for something to grab. I set my camera to shudder speed and began to get off as many shots as I could with the seagulls hovering over like that.
