Several weeks ago I chartered a fishing boat called the Codfather which fishes year round and on this particular day before the striped bass season ended in New York I wanted to get at least a couple of more trips in. We left the docks in Freeport, Long Island right off of the historical Nautical Mile around 6:30 am and began to troll once we were in front of the stretch of Jones Beaches. The sun was beginning to rise and pushing the few clouds out of the sky and leaving with a clear blue sky. As we made our turn around a jetty to my surprise there was only one other fishing charter in the area that was trolling for stripers. But he was using bunker and there was already plenty of bunker in the water and we were going to be fishing with silver spoons. As a courtesy the captain slowed his engines and I saw a great opportunity to capture this other charter boat out in the Atlantic Ocean trolling for striped bass right off the coast of the Jones Beaches. Everything I could want for a nautical photo was there, the fishing boat, the beach in the background and the Atlantic Ocean with a deep dark blue coloring to it.
