While getting ready for a cold, windy day on the Atlantic Ocean on December 8, 2016 fishing for Blackfish aboard a charter boat some friends of mine had chartered. I figured I would take out my camera before the waves which would stated to be 5 feet high and 8 foot swells were going to kick in and take some photos while we were still in the Atlantic Ocean inlet. My timing was just right as the first mate who also had his camera out yelled to me to look at the sky and watch how daytime and night time were mixed together as the sun had not yet risen above the horizon but it's powerful rays were giving off bright yellow, orange and red colors and the gray and white clouds from the night time were beginning to drift away. At this point you could begin to also see the Atlantic Ocean at 6:30 am and the small ripples were beginning to be seen as the sun's rays reflected off of the ocean. In the foreground there were trees and land that were in a silhouette format since no sun had touched them yet and the small amount of rays was not enough to clearly see them. Within minutes though we would witness the sun slowly rise above the horizon and on Long Island no matter what time of the year, winter, spring, summer or fall the sunrises and sunsets are always fantastic and on this day we were not let down.
