While at a photo shoot at a park in Merrick, New York located on the south shore of Long Island I wandered off to this lake to see if I could capture any landscape shots. As I was walking on the shore of the lake I heard several birds chirping in the background. When I turned around all of them had flown away but all of a sudden this bird turned and came back to the spot he was in. He began to feed off of something on the ground so not to frighten him I kept my distance and switched my lens to my zoom lens and focused in on him. I could tell he was protecting whatever it is that he was eating as he constantly kept staring over his shoulder watching for any predators. I set my camera on portrait and got a nice, clear shot of the bird with the background blurred out. After taking this photo I noticed what an unusual shape this bird had, all weight up front in chest nothing to his legs with even his legs positioned under his belly to hold up the weight. Turned out he was a Brown Headed Cowbird, very interesting looking bird
